Lufthansa Inspiration Cam

CHALLENGE
Lufthansa stands for cosmopolitanism and self-confidence with the claim “Say yes to the world.” However, the comfortable rise of social media has increased the so-called fear of missing out among many users – the feeling of missing out. Especially among young people, this leads to dissatisfaction and envy.

Those who are constantly exposed to Instagram & Co. often have the impression that others are constantly experiencing something. We wanted to find a way to digitally bring inspiration back into people’s everyday lives. For our real journeys, which mostly start on mobile devices through the digital world.

 

IDEA
We wanted to show how journeys can begin today, how they can be communicated creatively and contextually. With the Lufthansa Inspiration Cam, we developed a mobile, photo-based dialogue application that allows users to communicate directly and individually with their environment and receive personalized, context-based travel suggestions.

Users photograph their environment. The Inspiration Cam analyzes the image content using image recognition technology and artificial intelligence and provides travel inspiration in real time. Whether it is architecture, cuisine or landscapes – the app identifies relevant motifs and suggests suitable destinations including flight options from Lufthansa. The appropriate flight is just one click away.

 

IMPACT
The above-average dwell time of 4.5 minutes shows that users engaged intensively with the Inspiration Cam and its functions. Within one year, the Inspiration Cam generated 1.8 million visits and recorded an above-average conversion rate of over 30% in the booking process. Users interacted sustainably with the digital inspiration experience, which translated directly into flight bookings and the use of Lufthansa services.
